Greetings everyone! I would like to personally welcome everyone to the East Tennessee Section of the American Chemical Society. Our meetings are open to members of the ACS and to interested members from the local community. We especially welcome high school chemistry students and their teachers and undergraduate students and faculty from the many colleges and universities in East Tennessee. We have monthly meetings at various locations and they are open to everyone. We are very fortunate to live next door to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the many physical scientists both active and retired from the labs, many of whom have served leadership roles in the local organization. This fall we will have meetings with ACS Tour speakers at Walters State in Sevierville and at the University of Tennessee. We will also host the Lind Lecturer at both UTK and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Later this fall we will hold elections for our officers and counselors for 2011; if you are interested in providing leadership to the local section please let one of the current officers know.
